Hunting: Why Do We Need Hunting?

Those that hunt have heard at least once that hunting is cruel, why can't you go to the grocery store like everyone else, etc...  Well lets face it.  The meat at the grocery store was once a living animal.  They didn't just grow the meat in a lab, I wouldn't doubt this is where we are headed.  The cows, chickens and pigs lived on a farm.  They were bred to be killed so you can eat it.  They were kept in a small cage or pin with little room to move around.  Fed genetically engineered food.  Then they are shuffled onto a truck and sent to a warehouse to be killed.

All they things they ate when they were alive you are now eating.  Think about that for a few seconds.  All the chemicals they were given are in the meat at the grocery store.  Those don't just go away.  Now if you are eating organic, great.  Hopefully it is organic and the place that butchered it isn't just saying it is.  The animals that are hunting in the woods are 100% organic.  They eat what they find, they are not fed genetically engineered food.  These animals are living free to roam the land as it should be.

The reason there is hunting to to regulate the population.  If there are too many animals in a herd they will eat all the resources in their part of the land and they will all die.  If there are not enough animals in the herd they will not be able to reproduce enough offspring and they will all die off.  There is a delicate balance that needs to be met.

This winter there is an emergency hunt up north, due to a fire that burned about 200 miles of land.  If the hunt doesn't happen the animals will over graze the land and the herd will slowly starve to death.  I don't know about you but that is a horrible thing to happen, especially if it can be prevented.  How do you prevent that?  Hunting!  This goes for any hunting season the reason we hunt is to keep populations down.

Some areas have an over abundants of certain animals so there isn't a limit on how many you can get of a specific animal.  Then there are other places that have limits due to less animals but still need to control the population.

Hunters also provide money for conservation.  All the fees that are paid go to making sure the lands are there for the animals and there are people that can keep an eye on the populations to make sure there isn't over hunting.  If you over or under hunt an area that can cause problems.  How often do you see other people (other than hunters) donating money for animal conservation?  Not many.

So the next time you see a hunter and think it is cruel, don't just think about what they are doing.  Since the factories that provide you meat in the grocery store are doing way worse things than a hunter.  Think about why they are doing it.  Think about what would happen if the animals over populated and ate all the food, would those animals survive?  What would happen if there were no deer at all?  All life has to have balance.  If there were no balance everything would be in chaos.
