When it comes to vehicles I am a little partial to pick-up trucks. I have owned a few of them and I prefer them to cars. While cars get great gas mileage you are just limited in what you can do. You can't do much off roading, the slightest bump can bottom you out and you can't put a dead deer in your car. Well you can do the last one but I wouldn't recommend it.
I love all the questions I get about my truck as well:
1. Do you take that off road? No, why would I take a 4x4 truck off road. That isn't what they are designed for. Seriously I don't know why people ask my this question. I am not sure if it is because I am a girl or city folk don't know how to drive. Yes, a 4x4 truck is designed to go off road, so take it off road. If you are a guy and don't take your 4x4 truck off road you need to turn in your man card and your truck.
2. Can you help me move whatever I need moved? This I used to get all the time. I have stopped helping people move their crap since none of my friends like to help me with stuff I need help with. Seriously, if someone with a truck help you move stuff out of the goodness of their heart the least you can do is help them out. I have helped move at least 3 friends. Of the 3, 1 helped me moved and she was with her less than 1 year old child. I hear very similar stories from others who have trucks.
3. How do you drive a vehicle that big? Just like driving car. There is a gas pedal, brake pedal and a steering wheel. Some even come with a clutch and shifter. Kinda crazy right. Trucks are just as easy to drive as cars, the only difference is you are higher up and you see more.
4. Did your husband buy that for you? No, I traded in my old truck and Harley for my current truck. Still kicking myself for getting rid of my bike. The female gender is allowed to buy a truck on her own without her boyfriend, father, brother or husband doing it. My truck is the family truck so I pretty much have the final say of what we have.
While a car may be a little more cost effective when driving my kids to school and other things, a car wouldn't allow me to go camping this weekend and bring all the gear I need for me and the kids. Or I wouldn't be able to go out and shoot my rifle because all the shooting ranges in down are not long enough. We have to go off road to for our quarter mile or 900 yard shot. Or the freak snow storm we have the shuts down the roads. The cars slip and slide all over the place and can't make it up the hills, the truck can. So I will take a truck over a car any day of the week.
