Review of Leupold RX-1200i Rangefinder

The Leupold RX-1200i Rangefinder is a handy tool to have while out hunting.  This rangefinder is able to calculate distances between 5 to 1200 yards, just under 3/4 of a mile, for reflective targets.  Trees you can get a maximum distance of roughly 900 yards and deer you can get roughly 800 yards.  All are still great to the long distance shot.  If you want to shoot these distances make sure you have a scope that will allow you to see this far and give you an accurate shot.

The Leupold Rangefinder is very small and can fit in the palm of your hand.  So it can be tucked away in a jacket or pant pocket for easy storage.  It comes with a durable Cordura holster that will help to protect the optics.  The holster can also be attached to a belt, so it is easily accessible.  The lens can easily be cleaned with a lens cloth.

The operation of the rangefinder is extremely simple.  There are two buttons.  One on the top that turns it on and one on the left side for mode.  The power button has many functions.  Once on, press and hold the top button for the distance.  on the display you will also see the battery life and cross hairs.

In mode you can make several changes to the rangefinder.  You can change the cross hairs, display intensity (brightness of the cross hairs and range), and unit measurement.

1.  Cross hairs - the cross hairs have three options, a small + sign in the middle of the screen, a larger cross hair with space in between all the connecting lines, and last is a combination of both.

2.  Display - environments change on a regular basis.  The sun is bright with no clouds, overcast and sunrise or sunset with a few other variations in between.  The display allows you to change it from high, medium and low depending on what is going on outside.  It is pretty simple and quick to change between the three.

3.  Unit measurement - you have two options when it comes to measurement.  You can leave it on yards or you can change to meters.

This is a great rangefinder for the price.  MSRP of this model is $454.99, but you could pick it up for 395.99 from CountryGearUSA.  Magnification is 6x so you won't have any problems locating your target.  I find that you can reduce eye stress if you keep both eyes open when looking through the lens.

If you have this rangefinder what do you think of it, do you like it?
